Christmas Gifts For Everyone

You should have noticed by now that we at Brookside Garden Centre always get excited about Christmas. Not only does the store look impeccably dressed with new ranges of decorations and old favourites too, our Gifts department – always offering a superb collection throughout the year – comes alive with a whole array of special options for just about everyone you can think of, and to help you out, here are few of them…

For the gardeners in your life, we have a huge variety of tools and machinery, from forks, spades and trowels to electric leaf-blowers and lawnmowers, but if you want to be a little more creative, why not buy a hanging basket or trough and fill it with some packets of seeds, some small tools – bulb planter, dibber, secateurs – some plant feed, bulbs and new gloves? All these items can be found in our Sundries department so ask if you need any help.

We have a wide range of gifts for wild animal lovers too: a wooden hedgehog house turned upside down and filled with wild bird food, fat balls, a bird feeder, a seed scoop, some hedgehog food and maybe a small nesting box and nesting wool would make a delightful gift. But if you simply don’t have the time, we have bug hotels, bird tables, squirrel and bird feeders, and as many fat balls and seeds as you can carry, all of which make wonderful gifts on their own.

Of course, there are many of us who love our gardens but maybe lack the knowhow, so we have a number of books that may encourage green fingers; if that’s unlikely, however, lights, garden ornaments – everything from flaming-pink flamingos to oversized bees and multi-coloured dogs – clocks, barometers and even garden mirrors will add beauty without the hard work. Water-features always enhance the tranquillity our gardens provide, and we have many styles in stock, so you’ll be spoilt for choice.

But it’s not just the outdoors we cater for here. If you’re looking to give a gift for the home, we have the usual favourites – mugs, lap-trays, cheeseboards and placemats – nestled with the less obvious – hand-painted glasses, salt lamps, snuggly throws, earthenware vases and Dinky Ducks in all manner of attire! We have Potty Feet – from dogs to frogs to hedgehogs – to add a little novelty to pots, many pots that are already rather novel and an array of houseplants to fill them including Orchids and Poinsettias.

Then there are the children, and if they’re keen gardeners too, we have a selection of tools specifically for small hands, but don’t worry if not, our play tents and tepees will still keep them in the garden while you do all the work! When the weather prevents outdoor play, how about some puzzles to keep the little ones entertained inside? Ask our staff for further details, and they’ll guide you to our vast range. Cuddly toys are always a favourite at Brookside, and it seems TY’s Beanie selections are always a favourite with children; if you have the time, why not look through and find one with the same name or birthday as the child you’re buying for? We have books too for the youngsters, and our plush animal stools are the perfect height for pre-schoolers.

And what about our beloved pets? Your dogs and cats can join in the countdown too with their very own advent calendars, and selection boxes will keep them happy on Christmas Day. If you’d like their gifts to last a little longer, how about a new bed or blanket, a hoodie or warm coat? Plush toys that squeak, rustle and stretch are always popular, and there are brushes, bandanas – yes, you read that right! – shampoos and bathmats if you wanted to create a stocking for your pet or another pet owner. And we haven’t forgotten the smaller pets out there: we have a selection of natural foods with carrot cottages for rabbits and Christmas cakes for even smaller animals, domes for hiding and mice zorbs for a little exercise; fish… well, we have everything from the fish themselves to tanks, aquatic ornaments and food, so treating them or your loved ones will be easy.
